It’s no wonder that social media remains one of the most critical elements in any marketing strategy. According to social media statistics, 73% of adults in the USA use YouTube, and over 69% have a Facebook account.

Social media is growing, evolving, and changing at a rapid pace. 80 percent of expert freelancers provide social media content to their clients. Agencies, marketing freelancers, independent consultants, and you name it; a social media management tool is everyone’s priority.

Keeping up with Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram can be quite challenging when you don’t have access to a flexible social media management tool. A solid social media management tool can help you manage all your social handles without breaking a sweat.

Today I’ll compare the two most effective and flexible social media management tools, Hootsuite & Drumup.io. It will help you to pick the best tool for your business.

*Drumrolls*, let the face-off begin.

Pricing

Drumup.io & Hootsuite provide great plans for every business. If you are just starting out or have a social media management team of 10, both companies have got you well covered. I’ll start and compare how the plans of Drumup.io & Hootsuite stack up against each other.

  • Free Plan

Both Drumup.io & Hootsuite offer free plans for individuals. Basically, it’s a plan directed towards the people who are just entering the social media management world. You don’t have to pay a single penny to claim the free plan from Drumup.io or Hootsuite.

Drumup.io gives you access to handle one social media account. Furthermore, you can post three times per day/account. I personally like the fact that the free plan gives you the freedom of unlimited image uploading, custom scheduling of posts & great hashtag, and mention suggestions. Lastly, the free account comes with mobile apps, chrome & slack extension, and email support.

Hootsuite free plan for individuals packs the ability to manage three social profiles. This plan also allows me to schedule up to 30 posts without any time limit. Online help center & FAQs help you to solve basic problems. You can also integrate basic free apps from the Hootsuite app directory.

  • Starter Plans

Claiming a free account is great to test the tool, but if you want to move forward, you have to buy and invest in it. Unfortunately, Hootsuite doesn’t have a plan for beginners, but Drump.io has.

.

Although the first paid plan of Drumup.io comes with some sacrifices, it’s best for people who are just getting into the game. The starter plan of Drumup.io is available for only $15 per month. In this plan, you can manage three social accounts and publish up to 10 posts per day/account. What I personally find valuable in this plan is that one can set repeat scheduler for posts, shorten the URL and store up to 1,000 posts in the library.

  • Professional Plans

Are you going, all-in? Professional plans by Hootsuite & Drumup.io will assist you in achieving the greater good.

The professional plan of Hootsuite comes at $19 per month. It gives you access to managing ten social profiles with unlimited scheduling. This plan is packed with auto-scheduling, publishing calendar, and bulk scheduling. Moreover, you can monitor incoming messages and get free social inboxes. Overall, it’s a good plan for professionals who have to manage up to 10 social media accounts.

I know the price of Drumup.io pro plan is somewhat high, but it’s worth every dollar. Pro plan of Drumup.io is priced at $39 per month. Buying this plan enables you to handle 20 social media accounts. Additionally, you get 20 content suggestion streams plus 5 RSS feeds. What makes this plan stand-out for me is the full support of analytics, grouping social accounts, and the capability of storing 2,000 posts in the library.

  • Team Plans

Got a team? No worries: Drumup.io & Hootsuite have just the right plans for organizations that want to take social media management to the next level.

Hootsuite plan for teams is priced at $99 per month, whereas Drumup.io offers a better team plan at just $79/month. Drumup.io’s team plan covers 50 social accounts while Hootsuite allows you to manage 20 social media profiles. Hootsuite team plan supports up to three members, while Drumup.io allows a total of 4 additional teammates.

All-in-all, for me, Drumup.io’s team plan takes the crown. It’s affordable and offers more features compared to the Hootsuite’s subscription for teams.

Social Media Management Features

Features and benefits describe the worth of a social media management tool. I’ll differentiate some critical elements of Hootsuite & Drumup.io to see which one is the best for you.

  • Social Network Support (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and more!)

Drumup.io integrates with popular social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Slack, LinkedIn & GIPHY. On the other hand, Hootsuite integrates with a variety of social media platforms, and apps like Instagram, Gmail, Flickr, Tumblr, Reddit, and you name it.

If you are looking to connect hundreds of different social platforms, then your best bet should be Hootsuite.

  • Social Media Management Analytics

With Hootsuite, you can build real-time reports, track followers, check engagement rates, and much more. On the split side, Drumup.io provides ease of like, share, and click-tracking.

Both tools have a robust analytics system built-in but for everyone. But people who are going solo or have a small team will likely prefer Drumup.io as it’s brought to life for small to mid-size businesses.

  • Content Curation

Drumup.io provides keyword-based and RSS-integration content curation to source information from top websites. You can easily save, share, and schedule content from other sources to stay in the loop.

In Hootsuite, you can share posts, retweet, and find content relevant to your business in a few clicks. Note that Hootsuite lacks the ability to monitor the trends via RSS feeds, which can be a little daunting.

Size of Company

DrumUp was founded in 2015 in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. Sophia Solanki and Vishal Dutta brought this company to life. The main idea was to help people who were struggling in the department of social media management. DrumUp mainly targets small and mid-sized businesses and has around 20-30 employees. This tool uses data mining and NLP algorithms to discover rich content.

If I talk about Hootsuite, it’s for every size of business. It was founded back in 2008 by Dario Meli, David Tedman & Ryan Holmes. Some prominent clients of Hootsuite are Virgin, Orange, and Herschel. Hootsuite has around 500 – 1,000 employees who are continuously working to provide better social media management services.

Dashboard Experience

When talking about UI or UX, it is hard to pick the winner. But for me, Drumup.io takes the edge because of its clean and sleek experience. Hootsuite dashboard is pretty usable, but it’s not quite attractive.

Drumup.io’s dashboard experience is user-friendly and direct. Everything is labeled and well-categorized. Each account has its own content recommendation stream and publishing settings. Furthermore, everything is fully customizable according to one’s personal social media strategy. The smooth one-click transition between social accounts adds convenience and clarity for every type of user.

Although Hootsuite is capable of doing more stuff at once, the UI/UX is a little sluggish. Apart from the fact that the Hootsuite dashboard is indirect, the overall experience is excellent. I can easily manage multiple contributors and update a bunch of networks in one step. It took me some time to get used to Hootsuite’s dashboard, but I can say that it’s worth the effort.

Final Words

Hootsuite targets all sizes of businesses, whereas Drumup.io is excellent for medium to small size businesses. If you are looking for a social media management tool for your mid-sized team, we are biased, but would recommend DrumUp for sure :). Drumup offers everything in an affordable package for your growing business.
