Social media management tools are necessary for almost every business. It’s the bread & butter for people who are in the marketing biz. Picking a social media management tool for your business may seem easy, but if you are serious about your job, it can be pretty challenging.

Social media management tool allows a person or a team to build an online presence & attract customers.

Buffer & Drumup.io are two popular social media management tools I’ve been using for the past two years. I’ve utilized these tools to build my online audience on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram & LinkedIn.

I can proudly state that both Drumup.io and Buffer have helped me to take social media management to the next level. But some factors separate these tools from each other.

Today I’ll be comparing both tools side-by-side so that you can decide which one suits your business.

Social Media Management Features Showdown

  • Reporting/Analytics

Drumup.io and Buffer offer quality analytics to show how your brand is doing on social media.

In Drumup.io, you can track like, share, and click-through data for Facebook, Twitter, & LinkedIn. Buffer also offers you with all the same tracking features. Both tools serve the user with detailed reports so they can analyze and select the next move.

For me, Buffer takes the edge on reporting and analytics as it offers the ability to design custom reports & white-label reports.

  • RSS Feed

Both social media management tools allow a user to integrate RSS feed with social accounts. This way, a user can source information from their favorite websites and share them on social accounts.

RSS integration is built-in in Drumup.io and Buffer. But I prefer Drumup.io in this department as the tool uses NLP to suggest articles and information according to the social account.

  • Two Factor Authentication

Security is everything for Buffer. This tool offers two-factor authentication, which means you have to confirm your identity if you are logging in from a new device. Unfortunately, Drumup.io doesn’t provide this functionality to its users.

  • Image Editing

Buffer and Drumup.io allow the subscriber to edit images and make them beautiful. Buffer has its own popular image-editing software called Pablo. It’s user-friendly and full of tools to help you easily create engaging pictures. On the split side, Drumup.io uses a built-in image editor that’s pretty useful for crafting great images.

Both of these tools offer an excellent image editing powers. However, Drump.io is slightly easier to use.

Plans & Pricing

Buffer and Drumup.io have great plans and subscriptions. Both tools have free plans that allow users to first try out and get a feel of the overall experience.

Let’s take a look at the different programs offered by Drumup.io & Buffer.

  • Free Plans

To get the free plan of Buffer, you must take the 14-day trial and then downgrade to it. Note that you must choose the basic plan before the trial ends to avoid subscribing to any paid plan. The free or basic plan by Buffer offers users to handle three social accounts simultaneously. In the basic plan, only one user can access the account and schedule 10 posts per day.

Drumup.io’s free plan can be claimed by starting the free trial. After fourteen days, you will automatically be moved to the free plan. One social account, the limit of 3 posts per day/account, and one content suggestion stream are provided in the free plan of Drumup.io. Users can upload unlimited images, customize posts according to their schedule, and get free hashtag & mention suggestions. That’s not it! The free plan of this social media management tool gives you access to mobile apps, chrome extension, slack extension, and email support.

I personally liked the free plan by Drumup.io as it gives me a lot of features to experiment with. Although Buffer offers three social accounts and 10 scheduled posts per day, Drumup.io serve their guests with multiple features to try.

  • Starter Plans

As Drumup.io targets mid-small size businesses, they offer a starter plan. Unfortunately, Buffer doesn’t offer that. Buffer’s first paid plan is directed towards the professionals (I’ll cover that in the next section).

Drumup.io’s starter plan is perfect for an individual who’s either freelancing or growing his/her own business. The plan comes at an affordable price of $15/month. With this plan, you can manage three accounts, set-up three RSS feeds, and store up to 1,000 posts in the library. For saving time, you also get features like a smart URL shortener & repeat scheduler.

If you are just starting out in the social media management world, the starter plan by Drumup.io is perfect.

  • Pro Plans

Some people compare the pro plan by Buffer with the starter subscription of Drumup.io, but that’s not the case with me. Just so you know, Buffer’s pro plan comes at the price of Drumup.io’s starter plan, $15 per month.

With Buffer’s pro plan, you get to manage eight social accounts. Additionally, you can schedule 100 posts per day and get free apps, extensions, and 60+ integrations. Buffer pro plan comes at a handy price, and it’s ideal for individuals.

If you are okay to pay a little extra, then Drumup.io’s pro plan will surely attract you. I know this plan is a bit expensive, but it has got a lot for an individual. Drumup.io’s pro plan offers the freedom of managing 20 accounts. Analytics, group social accounts, five RSS feeds, and you name it, this pro plan is full of features!

Buffer pro plan benefits the people who are just starting out, but Drumup.io’s pro subscription is best to take things to a whole new level.

  • Premium & Business Packages

Buffer offers two plans, premium and business, that are ideal for growing brands & teams. On the other side, Drumup.io has an all-in-one plan for small to midsize companies.

Premium and business plans by Buffer share the same features apart from some key differences.

Save time managing your social media accounts

Are you still managing your social media accounts directly from Facebook/Twitter/LinkedIn? Make your life easier by managing all your social media in one place, schedule posts, repeat posts, curate content and more. Try DrumUp now, it's free, forever.

The premium package is available for $65/month for two people, and it gives you and your partner the power of handling eight social accounts & schedule up to 2,000 posts. Buffer’s business plan gives you and five other people the strength of managing 25 social accounts and schedule 2,000 posts.

Drumup.io has only one but healthy plan for small-mid size businesses. You can buy the top-of-the-line plan of Drumup.io for just $79 per month. It enables you to manage 50 social accounts, set-up 10 RSS feeds, and store up to 5,000 posts in the library. Up to four team members can use this social media management tool by buying the business plan.

Buffer gives you multiple options, but if your team prefers has to handle a dozen social media handles, Drumup.io’s business plan can be the right option.

UI/UX Experience with Social Media Management Tools

Drumup.io’s UI/UX design is simple, user-friendly, and easy to adapt. Everything is placed in the correct order. Furthermore, tabs and columns are labeled well so that everyone can easily find what they are looking for. You won’t see any clutter or information bleeding out from its section. Developers have given considerable attention to every part of the dashboard and crafted everything in order.

My thoughts for Buffer’s dashboard experience are somewhat similar to what you have read above. Buffer doesn’t scare away its customers with the bulk of tools and information. Creators have aligned every tool, section, and tab properly, so it’s easy for everyone to navigate through the dashboard.

All-in-all, both tools have a great UI/UX experience. Even for beginners, Buffer and Drumup.io have set-up everything in a super smooth and self-explanatory manner.
